Short-Term Missions

Why Go On A Short Term Mission Trip?  Our goal at Southpoint is to further the Kingdom of God and honor our Lord Jesus Christ by providing both local evangelism and outreach, along with International Short-Term Missions experiences. We want to create an environment that impacts YOU as much as the people we are ministering to. We want to break down the walls, barriers, and obstacles that stand in your way of Going, Sharing, and Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We want to introduce you to the global fields which are White for the Harvest!

Our objective is to mobilize and equip the Southpoint for missions by bringing the mission field to our doorstep. The dramatic changes in our world have ushered in a new era in missions. A new breed of missionary is helping to win the world for Christ: The Short-Term Missionary. It is this new generation of missionaries that we seek to assist. More opportunity exists to reach the World for Christ than ever before. Unprecedented numbers of people are answering God's call to the mission field through STM Trips.

What Are Missions?  Missions, simply put, is reaching those, who don't know Christ as their Lord and Savior, with the Gospel of Jesus. It knows No Limits in territory, people, places, or methods used to reach those who are lost. God’s desire is that none should perish. So, how has He designed it so that all can hear?

#1 Through His Holy Spirit

#2 Through His creation

#3 Through us . . .

God’s Call:  It is unique and specific to each individual. He uses our upbringing, experiences, giftedness, and heart to shape Us into a unique tool for His hands to mold, guide and use.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Eph 2:10)

God's Will: For each individual to Love God and Love People, these are the two great commandments found in Mathew 22:36-40. These commandments are most effectively expressed directly through the Great Commission, found in Matthew 28:19-20: Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

God's Command: To Love Him and Love Others, drives us towards His Commission to Go, Make Disciples, Baptize, and Teach in the power of the Holy Spirit!

Why Should I Go On A Short-Term Mission Trip?  Many have asked the question, why go around the world to share the gospel of Jesus Christ? Don’t we have enough opportunity in our own Jerusalem?  Yes we do!  However, most churches in the United States suffer from a lack of passion for evangelism and outreach because their people have neither been trained to effectively share the Gospel or have never been personally challenged or exposed to other believers who to live a passionate Great Commission life!

Cross-cultural STM trips will provide the ideal setting for you to be taken out of your comfort zone and placed in an entirely different culture to witness the power of the Gospel at work.

The goal of any STM Trip is not to go and teach the national church how to do ministry, but for them to reintroduce us the incredible passion of sharing the Gospel.  We want to provide you with a life changing experience of co-laboring with other believers around the world and developing a Worldview of the Gospel.

Through the personal experience of short-term mission trips, thousands have returned back to their local churches passionate about reaching their community for Christ.  Because they WENT and SAW how passionately other Christians around the world live for Christ.  They returned home with a conviction to live a passionate life for Christ and reach their own community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Final Thoughts!  Many people have a hard time embracing the concept of Short Term Missions. Unfortunately this has hindered the potential of missions in the local church today. It is hurting the church, the possible supporters to missions within the local church, and the potential missionaries that could have been raised up out of the local church if they were only exposed to the possibility of short-term missions opportunities. Keep in mind, missions is not just going and living with villagers and eating bugs. That's just a potential benefit for the wild ones at heart.
