I love bread…especially when it is freely given at a restaurant. Sometimes, we choose where we eat dinner based on who has the best bread! In our passage today, a group of people that Jesus previously fed came looking for more. But instead of giving them more, He told them what they needed to hear: the bread you’re looking for will not last. So, He offered them something better—Himself. Here's what we learn: Jesus is the Bread of Life for all of life.

Storms can sneak up on us out of nowhere. You went into the grocery store with no clouds in sight. You come out to a monsoon. You can’t choose the time, the place, or the intensity. The disciples were faced with a really big storm at a really bad time; yet Jesus proved to be greater than the storm. And here’s what we can learn from their story: The strength of the storm rests 
within the boundaries of Christ.

What is your lost cause in life? What has you ready to give up? A person? A situation? A big project? All of us have things we've quietly put into the "lost cause" category. For the disciples, feeding the five thousand felt like an impossible task. But looking in the face of their limitations, they learned this: a lost cause is never lost on Jesus.

"Who am I" is the question posed in the classic game Guess Who. Through the process of elimination we narrow down the field to figure out which character our opponent is. Sometimes, we treat life like this but instead asking who other people are, we are trying to figure out who we are. We want identity. That's a good thing because without identity, insecurities run wild. That's why we've focused on this one thing today... Jesus wasn't bound by insecurities; He was established by identity.

A polluted attitude of worship will always lead to polluted acts of worship.

If you were known by your past jobs, what would your name be? Teacher? Banker? What if you were known by your family history? Would your name be Divorced, Bankrupt, or Funny? What about sins or emotions? Lust, Gossip, Anger, Happy, etc.? You can't choose what people call you, but you can choose what name you answer to. It's about identity, knowing yourself. When you don't know yourself, every emotion, bad day, and personal struggle can spiral out of control. So, here's the example we will learn today: Jesus wasn't bound by insecurities; He was established by identity.
