Psalm 91 has brought comfort to the broken hearts of many. It is a source of strength and encouragement. Maybe you've read it yourself but what we often miss is a beautiful name of God. It is Jehovah-Machsi, the LORD My Refuge. From this lesson we will learn that the LORD is a refuge for the weary.

God does not always make the pathway easy. He does not always hold back the problems. He does not always shield us from heartache. But here's one thing you can take from the name Jehovah-Rapha: The LORD of your healing stands in the place of your hurting.

Can you imagine life with no rules? As kids and teens, we probably all longed for the day when we would no longer be stuck under so many rules. What we didn't understand then is that rules are very helpful if they actually guide us all in a positive direction. God gave us the Law (Old Testament Commandments) for a reason. Paul has made it clear that the purpose of the Law was not to save us or make us righteous. So, what is its purpose then? That's what we want to focus on in this two part message. The Law was given to guide the lawless.

Have you ever heard the story of someone who picked a fight with the wrong person? Like a man who breaks into the house of an MMA fighter and is completely demolished by him. That's a good image of what is happening in 1 Samuel 17. Goliath, described as a man of war, picked a fight with a shepherd boy but he would soon learn that David was the least of his concerns. Jehovah-Milchama, the LORD of Battle, was on that battlefield that day. David approached the fight knowing this: the LORD of Battle battles over me.

"And Enoch walked with God: and he was not, for God took him." Very little is said about Enoch yet he carries one of the greatest testimonies in the entire Bible.

Have you ever said something that in your mind sounded good but when you said it out loud, it wasn't received well. That may have been what David and the Israelites were going through when David asked what would be done about Goliath. When no one stepped up, the young man decided to handle it himself. How could he have that type of bravery? He understood the name of God: Jehovah-Milchama, the LORD of Battle. David knew within his heart, the LORD of Battle battles over me.

If you've ever used a tool in a way that it was not originally intended for, you know the frustration that can lead to. Driving a nail with the back of a screw driver is less than optimal! Sometimes, you can make this work but others, it can backfire in a big way. That's what Paul was warning his readers about in Galatians chapter three. The law cannot do what only faith was made to do.
