David was called a man after God's own heart. There are moments in his life where he serves as a remarkable picture of Christ. The story of David and Mephibosheth is one of those moments. David pours out the love of God on someone who didn't have anything to offer in return. But this was a love that he had received from God over and over. He teaches us that we give from what we have been given. Not what man has given us, but what God has given us.

In a world obsessed with notoriety, fame, and fortune, we often feel like success is determined by our followers. John the Baptist had a great following for a time but in today's passage we read about a moment when he watched his popularity and influence begin to fade. What was his response? How did he calm his anxious disciples? He taught them a better philosophy for living: More of Him, less of me.

Nicodemus was a renowned teacher and religious leader in Israel. When people had questions, they went to him. When they were afraid, they went to him. When they were confused or seeking a word from God, they went to him. What they didn’t realize was that Nicodemus had questions, fears, and confusion of his own. Where do you go when you have concerns that keep you up at night? What do you do when you look around and see the evidence stacked against you? When you know you stand condemned? Well, Nicodemus brought those to Jesus and he learned that God has compassion for the condemned.

Tonight, we will learn the importance and the impact of sharing your faith with others. Whether it's the Romans Road or your own testimony, you have the ability and calling to tell others about the saving grace of Jesus.

A home typically reflects the people who live there. You can learn their preferences, styles, hobbies, and their priorities just by being there. I think this is why Jesus was so upset when He entered the temple, His Father's house, and saw they had done. The Father's house should reflect the Father's heart.

Live your life in light of the vapor.

If the devil can't control the church, he'll do his best to corrupt it. He does this from within. So, how do we make sure that we are not being used in this process? How do we keep corruption out of our own hearts?

Students graduate high school, couples become parents, working men retire, seasons change and storms come our way, but Jesus is alongside us as we go. Whether your season of life is as recognizable as a senior graduating high school or not, we are called to new things and steps of faith. Today's service will celebrate our graduates in a special way, but it will also challenge each of us in this thought: My faith is often comfortable in the boat, but it is grown on the water.
