Every name of God was brought to life on Christmas Day.

Christmas is a reminds us that God didn't wait for us to find our way back to Him-He came to us. Not as an act of war, even though our sin was a declaration of war against Him. No, Isaiah says His name is Sar-Shalom, the Prince of Peace. Our world seems broken but He came to tell us there is peace for life's broken pieces.

My story was never meant for my glory.

Grace brings a kingdom mindset to earthly living.

It's impossible to fully describe God in a single word. He gives us names and descriptions but even those are limited by our vocabulary and human understanding. The name Jah-Jehovah seems to indicate this reality. Jah is the shortened form of Jehovah so the name is really, Jehovah-Jehovah. Today we learn that there is a name worth repeating.

When you walk in the Spirit, you walk over the flesh.

When God called Israel out of Egypt, they were a nation without an identity. Nobody knew who they were, including themselves. Yet God was actively forming their identity through the events they would face. Through these experiences, they would come to know a new name of God, Jehovah-Nissi, the LORD our Banner. They would anchor their identity to the One who is greater than the times, the culture, and the temporary. Here's the one thing for today: Anchor your identity to eternity.

What do you do when your circumstances or trials feel unfair--or feel unlike the God you thought you knew? When the picture of life doesn't fit the picture of God? What do you do when your problems seem bigger than His promises? It is here that God reminds us that He is Jehovah-Jireh, the LORD our Provider. Here's what we learn: the God who sees your problem will see to your provision. So, let go and love God for who He is.
